Beadapolooza 2014 Daily Update

Friday August 14th 2014

We have some very talented craftsman and artist this year and even some demos too

Ben Johnston  from Iron Valley Forge

Ben started blacksmithing at an early age, then in 2009 he began to learn the art of horseshoeing. In 2011 Ben attended Chris Gregory’s Hartland Horseshoeing School (HHS) located in Lamar, Missouri. Through HHS, Ben was provided the opportunity to apprentice with Robbie Miller of Cape Town South Africa.  Ben has taken his talents to a new level.  He has taken his skills in Blacksmithing  to create one of a kind hand forged jewelry pendants.  We are excited to have him and we will have the pleasure of watching him Demo his craft during Beadapalooza.

Forged copper

Shawn Turner  from Set in Glass Lampwork

Shawn was her last year and we are glad she is back again

Shawn began making lampworked beads, that was in 1999 by taking a beginning lampworking class. She fell in love the very first time she lit the torch and melted glass, like a moth to the flame, she could not stay away.
The pieces she make are created from Italian Effetre, Moretti Glass or Borosilicate glass. Each piece is designed by melting glass rods using a torch. The pieces are then annealed in a kiln at temperatures between 950-1050 degrees Fahrenheit, to reduce internal stress in the glass and make longer lasting pieces.
Each and every piece created, reveals a piece of her, expressed in glass art.
shawn turner

Sharon Ivy with Crooked Creek Studios

Sharon is back this year with her pottery bowls mugs and of course Pendants and Buttons. If you remember last year her pendants sold out in the first 20 minutes of Beadapalooza.  Well,  she has bee a busy bee getting ready for this years event.

New Vendor this year is Art Metal Components by Anju

beadplace

Art Metal Components by Anju are a line of completely customizable pewter jewelry components. Find Art Metal Components at your local bead store. AMC by Anju is a subsidiary of The Bead Place in Fairview Heights, IL.
beadplace2
Create fantastic jewelry with Art Metal Components – a gorgeous line of adaptable pendants and charms hand crafted by the artist, Anju, herself. Art Metal Components are made of fine pewter which has been electroplated with silver, copper, and brass. They are antiqued to bring out each beautiful detail. They are also finished with an anti-tarnish coating so each piece always stays as beautiful as the day you purchased it.
beadplace4
Every Art Metal Component is completely customizable. Pewter is a malleable metal, which allows you to gently bend and shape your pendant until it is perfect for your application. Round pendants and charms are especially easy to dome with a dapping block. Use our Art Metal Hole Punching Pliers to hang dangles from your pendant -OR!- to hang your pendant in a different direction! If all of that sounds a little too much, don’t worry. Each Art Metal Component comes ready to wear with holes and/or bails already in place!
